Mentoring

I provide mentoring to a variety of individuals and on behalf of organisations: -

  • Innovation Martleham - IM is an established high-tech cluster of ICT companies located at BT's Adastral Park located in Martlesham Heath, Suffolk, UK. I am a mentor for these ICT companies and often get involved in a technical and business development capacity.
  • University of Essex - I am an approved mentor for students in their final year at the university and have worked with a number of students to help them understand what they love to do and to commercialise that. 
  • Young Enterprise - I have looked after a couple of awesome young teams of sixth formers at Colchester Royal Grammar School in a Young Enterprise competition. They are required to who set-up and run a limited company, develop products, fundraise and sell, for the competition, but also to add value to their CV's! Energy Healing

Following a number of strong spiritual experiences I began training and working in healing and spiritual counselling. I also run spiritual awareness courses, a healer support group coaching qualified healers, and I teach Reiki to level III.

Qigong

I have enjoyed Qigong as a background to my martial arts training since 1993 when I had a series of one to one sessions with Ray Nelson from the US while he was living in Suffolk, UK.


Since then I trained regularly under a series of teachers in a series of methods, Zhineng Qigong, Health Qigong and Shaolin Qigong among others. 


I attended a very intensive Qigong Teachers course with The QiGong Academy under Sifu John Millar between October 2023 and July 2024 where I was accredited as a teacher.

Martial Arts

I have been practising (and mainly living) Shotokan Karate since 1981 and teaching since 1992, I reached the grade of 5th Dan, which took me until 2006. I founded two clubs, one in Sidcup, Kent in 1992, and one in Cambridge in 1994 when I moved that way, and this club continues today. When I retired from regular karate in 2010 I was the IASK National Kata Champion three times in a row. I also trained in Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Pak Mei kung fu, and Tomiki Aikido.


I learned to teach powerfully practical self-defence with a number of organisations including the police and some military organisations and ran a number of courses for the public. I especially enjoyed the self-perfection and the closely-related spiritual aspects of the art and also enjoyed passing this love, as well as strong self-discipline, onto my students.

  • Tutor and assessor of the English Karate Governing Body's coach award scheme and a Tutor and assessor for NVQ II/III 'Karate Coaching’ Level 2

Freemasonry & Mysticism

Freemasonry

I received my first initiation as an Entered Apprentice into Freemasonry in Wellington Lodge No. 548 as part of the United Grand Lodge of England in Holborn London, UK during January 2017, and was then raised to Fellow Craft in March 2017, and promoted to Master Mason in 2018.


I joined Mistley 2339 in April 2022 and am enjoying Provincal Freemasonry in Essex

I was an aspirant of the William Semkin College of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia for 3 years and then: -

  • Joined as a Zelator in December 2021.
  • Promoted to Theoricus in June 2023 and served as the conductor.
  • Promoted to Practicus in March 2024 and served as the 4th Ancient

AMORC

I am a 9th Degree Rosicrucian with the Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis - AMORC

I am a 2nd Degree member of this initatic order www.martinists.org

Dance

I can't leave it out, because I love it! Be it Bachata, Salsa, ballroom, or just plain boogying on a Friday night. (I even taught Zumba for five years until I was 51!)


Someone I love said "Dancing doesn't have to be cool" and I try to live that every day!

Beginnings

That's me on the left, I was young once too. But I always hated football so not sure what happened there!


Since then I have fathered two awesome boys, Jack and Oliver (below), born in 1991 and 1995 respectively, who I love having around. Top lads.
